COURSE PREREQUISITES – Basic computer skills.
COURSE DESCRIPTION –One 75-minute course on how to install and use the free portable apps platform on a USB flash drive. A portable app is a computer program that doesn't need to be installed into Windows like traditional apps. You can carry it with you on a portable device and use on any Windows computer. Over 450 free programs are available, Accessibility, Office, Internet browsers, Games, Graphics & pictures, Music & Video, utilities to name a few. Your favorite software everywhere, your bookmarks and settings, you can edit your documents, photos and more. You will learn how to install the Portable Apps platform on your USB flash drive. Download and easily install these apps on your USB drive. We will be using the Windows 10 computers in the computer lab.
COURSE MATERIALS – An outline of the course will be provided in PDF format as well as the Portable Apps platform software.
The student should have a personal USB Flash drive with at least 4GB (larger is better) of free space for installing the Portable Apps platform and transporting files between the classroom and home. Note that a USB 3.0 or faster flash drive is advisable if you want a better experience.
