Internet Search; Beyond the Basics
Course Enrollment Status: Enrollment for this course is limited to 12 students.
Course Location: Silicon room at the HOA2 Arts and Crafts Center.
Category: Windows and Apple PCs
COURSE PREREQUISITES – Basic computer skills.
COURSE DESCRIPTION –One 75-minute class for a more advanced way to search on the internet. This is an intermediate-level class that goes beyond the basics of keyword searching. We will be using the Google search engine and the Firefox web browser. We will be doing searches from both the browsers address bar and separate search bar. The search bar makes it easy to switch to a different search engine. We will do a more focused search by phrasing our queries correctly and using simple expressions (e.g. quotation marks and colons) to find exactly what we are looking for. You will also learn how to search for an item in a specific country using country codes.
COURSE MATERIALS – An outline of the course will be provided in PDF format.
The student should have a personal USB Flash or Jump drive for transporting files between the classroom and home.
