COURSE NAME – Basic Excel Part II (A Numeric Emphasis)


COURSE PREREQUISITES - Successful completion of a Windows class or comfortable navigating and using Windows directories. The ability to perform simple computer operations such as selectcopycutpaste, and drag-and-drop are important skills which should be acquired before beginning this class. Successful completion of Basic Excel Part I (no exceptions)


COURSE DESCRIPTION
 – Three 75-minute classes over three days. This portion of the Excel course is designed to introduce the student to using a spreadsheet for managing numeric data within a spreadsheet.  The student must have already completed Basic Excel Part I (A Database Emphasis). This second class builds upon the knowledge acquired in the first class. You should leave the class with a good understanding of how to create formulas and functions using Microsoft Excel.  Topics include:

  • Arithmetic operations
  • Creating formulas and functions within cells
  • Cell replication and duplication
  • Formatting
  • Designing charts and graphs
  • Saving and Printing

This course is not meant for experienced Excel users.


COURSE MATERIALS
 - The text used is “Microsoft Office Excel 2013 Plain & Simple” and is available at the classroom for approximately $20. The text may also be purchased from such places as Amazon.com.

Please bring a personal Flash drive for transporting files between the classroom and home.
