You must also have your tablet or smartphone and a USB data transfer cable, some charging cables do NOT have the ability to transfer data. It is advisable, but not required, to have a 2nd Monitor (or TV) plugged into your computer so you can follow my online video instructions while working with the Calibre program. This is a “hands on” class.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
- Beyond eBook Basics

Beyond eBook Basics; how to use Calibre to manage your eBook collection or library.

Calibre is an e-book library manager. It can view, convert and catalog e-books in most of the major e-book formats. It can also talk to many e-book reader devices. It can go out to the Internet and fetch metadata for your books. It can download newspapers and convert them into e-books for convenient reading. It is cross platform, running on Linux, Windows and macOS. You can download it here: https://calibre-ebook.com/

I will show you how to install and configure Calibre on your computer. I will cover the most common features and settings. We will import some free eBooks into calibre, add a cover, edit metadata and convert the file to the format your device (tablet or smartphone) requires. We will then transfer the eBooks, using a USB data cable, to your device.

I will show you how and where you can download both free and paid eBooks that are DRM free. We will briefly discuss what DRM is and how it’s used today. There are hundreds of thousands of free eBooks if you know where to look.
