Digital Estate Planning: Documenting your Internet Assets
It used to be that when someone died, their executor would follow a standard roadmap to settle their estate. Nowadays we live our lives at least partly online, and that can mean a big headache for our families when we die: How do you sort through the deceased digital accounts and possessions when you don’t even know what they are? In this class we will create a blueprint for how to inventory and document your digital life.. now while you still can. We will focus on the four major components to your digital life:
Each one requires a different strategy to ensure that nothing gets lost or forgotten.
This “lecture only” class will be taught in 2 back-to-back sessions with a short break between, so plan on allowing a total of 2.5 hours for this class.
Attendees should bring a flash drive to class. Copies of the slides will be available to be downloaded in pdf format. In addition, attendees will receive an Information Organizer – The Big Book of Everything in both Excel and pdf formats to help compile all the details you may want to have available for family and friends.
