Let’s Learn Linux!

In this class you will be provided with a computer with Linux Mint “Vera” 21.1 installed as the operating system. Linux Mint is very similar to Windows 10 and Mac Catalina and you will learn how easy it is to transition to this operating system. It is simpler than Windows and Mac, supported by a robust community, easily installed on your older Mac or PC and it is FREE!

We will watch a short video to learn the development of the Linux kernel and the Free Software Movement.

We will study:

Navigating the file system

Basic system setup and configurations

Select preferred applications

Configure the Firefox browser with ad blockers and other features for browsing security and efficiency.

How to easily install any of some 50,000 software applications available to accomplish anything that you do with your Mac or PC. This includes the Microsoft Edge browser with Bing Chat AI that is all the rage today. Install your favorite email program, work with photos, etc.

And much more!

The Feature Updates for Windows 10 have ceased and support will stop for security updates in October, 2025. At this point it is game over. New Mac computers are very expensive. Why not get ahead of the game and learn the easy transition to Linux?
