1:00pm: How Do Search Engines Really Work

About this event

This class applies to: PC, Mac, iPad, SmartPhones, Tablets.

As a society we have grown dependent on search engines.  Today it’s easier than ever to run to the internet and find the answer to nearly any question that plagues us.

So when you type a phrase into your favorite search tool, how does it know what results to deliver… and are they accurate?

In this one session class we’ll talk about the top 3 search engines, Google, YouTube and Bing and explain how these search engines come up with the results you see displayed.  We’ll also talk about “paid” advertising that shows up prominently versus what is referred to as “organic search results”.  Lastly we’ll explain how to use keywords versus keyword phrases to narrow down your results.
