Creating & Publishing Books with Blurb

Blurb BookWright's easy-to-use features allow anyone to publish custom
photo book, magazines, and novels in either print or ebook format.

This class will be an introduction to using free, customizable photo book and magazine templates offered by Blurb/BookWright.

First we’ll be investigating the various templates offered as starting points.

Next we’ll look at how the BookWright dashboard is organized.

Topics touched upon include:

  • Choosing a cover type
  • Selecting individual page layouts – and what this will mean in the end
  • Importing photos
  • Importing RTF documents
  • Adding and editing images
  • Creating borders or frames around images
  • Adding Text
  • Linking Flowing Text Containers
  • Understanding “print safe” areas
  • Quick font tips
  • Editing Background Elements
  • Formatting Chapters
  • Changing page order
  • Adding more pages

Lastly we’ll discuss publishing your book:

Each class session will also offer optional follow-up 90-minute smaller group sessions for students wanting to discuss or help with their individual book projects in more depth than can be done during the larger full class session.  These optional follow-up sessions will occur within approximately 1 week after the scheduled “Creating & Publishing Books with Blurb” full session.

Important:  Helpful resource handouts will be available for you to download from the classroom computers, so please remember to bring your thumb drive to class in order to download a copy to take home.
