Introduction to Ubuntu Linux
Bring your old (or new) computer to this class and we will run Linux Ubuntu on it from a flash drive to see how it works. No need to bring a monitor, we have those available, but please bring your keyboard, mouse and power cord. As long as the machine will boot up, we can run Ubuntu, we don’t need the password.
With Ubuntu running from the flash drive, we can analyze the machine’s hardware and recommend any hardware upgrades needed. Nothing will be installed on the computer at this point. If you decide to install Ubuntu, it is as simple as double clicking on an icon on the desktop. Usually, machines require a Solid State drive and a little more memory to run efficiently. Laptops almost always need a new battery. With these upgrades, for under a hundred dollars, your computer will run better than when it was new!
Linux Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS (Long TermSupport) is a secure, stable and beautiful operating system that works on Windows and Mac computers. The interface looks very similar to Windows 11 but is much simpler and easier to learn. It is well supported with updates to the operating system and applications.
